About this role

Under the direction of Health Services Administrator (HSA), Program Manager (PM), the Assistant Health Services Administrator or Assistant Program Manager will be responsible for the supervision of health care personnel at the detention facilities. The AHSA will support corporate philosophy and commitment to provide quality care to detainees and will have the following responsibilities:

 

What you bring to the table

Education:

  • Bachelors or Master's Degree in Nursing, Hospital Administration, Public Health or Business Administration preferred

Experience:

  • Operational experience in correctional health care and delivery preferred
  • Three (3) or more years minimum experience in administrative and supervisory experience preferred
  • Organizational experience in operations and planning required
  • Experience in managing budgets and analyzing contracts preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current CPR Certification

What you will do

  1. Assist the HSA/PM with the day to day coordination of healthcare services
  2. Liaison with sheriff’s staff at all facilities
  3. Attend Sheriff’s Department meetings as needed
  4. Assist with interviewing, hiring, scheduling, and supervising health services staff
  5. Coordinate orientation, supervise, and evaluate the performance of new staff
  6. Participate in employee performance evaluations
  7. Evaluate nursing care by monitoring nursing documentation (TB results, medication administration rounds, treatments, medical pre-booking assessments)
  8. Communicate areas of improvement to individual staff and counsel staff regarding performance issues both formally and informally
  9. File appropriate and timely notification reports and communicate incidents of consequence to HSA/PM
  10. Monitor staff for compliance of following policies:
  11. Arrive to work as scheduled
  12. Take meals and breaks for the length of time allowed
  13. Wear appropriate apparel and maintain professional appearance
  14. Accurate and timely completion of time cards
  15. Insure overtime is verified
  16. Monitor policies, procedures, and practices, including the disposal of sharps and the appropriate notification of suspected drug unaccountability’s
  17. Insure keys and narcotics and syringes are properly accounted for
  18. Insure compliance with security practices in the institutions
  19. Review posted schedule by the 20th of each month
  20. Act as a professional role model and clinical resource person
  21. Support and demonstrate an understanding of the rights of patients
  22. Insure medical record confidentiality
  23. Insure informed consents and release of Information are maintained
  24. Provide input regarding the effectiveness of processes to measure, assess, and improve patient care
  25. Unusual occurrences are reported to the HSA
  26. Participate in Quality Assurance activities
  27. Insure that essential standards are met
  28. Answer grievances and send copy of response to HSA
  29. Responsible for monthly statistical data overview and forward to the HSA in a timely manner
  30. Share 24-hour administrative on-call responsibility with HSA
  31. Perform other duties as assigned.
