About this role

Our Medical Services Director is responsible for directing, assessing, planning, and monitoring all medical services and staff for the facility. In addition, it is also responsible for ensuring that all medical assessments and care for residents are performed, as well providing as consultations and referrals with other medical staff.

What you bring to the table


  • Medical degree from an accredited university. Board certified or eligible in internal or family medicine.


  • Skilled in organization, supervision, and state-of-the-art treatment interventions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of special precautions, disaster and fire safety procedures, finding alternatives to seclusion and restraint, and knowledge of abuse reporting.
  • Knowledgeable about care and treatment needs of residents based on age.
  • Must be able to use computer and the software application packages used by the facility.Two (2) years post residency clinical experience in an acute inpatient setting, correctional, or psychiatric experience preferred.


  • Licensed in the state of Florida. Has a current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate of registration.

What you will do

  1. Oversee recruitment, selection and retention of primary care physicians, mid?level practitioners and dentists according to the requirements of the Contract.
  2. Ensure physician availability and coverage both on?site and on?call; Manage provider scheduling.
  3. Oversees operation of all medical services throughout the facility including infirmary, medical service contracts,
  4. x?ray and dietitian.
  5. Participate in specific case conferences for special needs Patients regarding medical needs, placement, and release planning.
  6. Establish evidence?based guidelines and clinical pathways for disease management including detailed documentation standards.
  7. Design, manage and coordinate a Clinical Performance Enhancement Program (peer review) for all primary care, physicians, certain on?site specialty providers and mid?level practitioners.
  8. Attend all contractually required meetings and all meetings requested by the ADC.
  9. Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives required by the Contract or otherwise requested by
  10. the ADC.
  11. Serve as the Co?Chair of the hospitals Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
  12. Participate in formulary design and management.
  13. Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
  14. Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
  15. Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
  16. Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.
