About this role

Our Optometrist provides optometry service to patient patients and provides required documentation of services to the HSA or designee in accordance with The Company contract.

What you bring to the table

Education:           

  • Doctorate of Optometry

Experience:        

  • One (1) or more years experience in general optometry preferred

Licenses/Certifications: 

  • Current licensure as an Optometrist within the state
  • Current CPR Certification

What you will do

  1. Reports to assigned facility at designated hour to examine, supervise and provide vision care/treatment to referred patients. Evaluates and treats patients referred by other clinical personnel in accordance with The Company guidelines.
  2. Refers to other clinical providers as appropriate.
  3. Ensures progress note documentation is in SOAP format, problem oriented, legible and is dated, timed and signed.
  4. Maintains current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification on file.
  5. Supports standards of correctional vision care through adherence to existing policies and procedures.
  6. Assumes responsibility and accountability for his individual judgments and actions.
  7. Utilizes Standard Precautions when providing vision care and treatment.
  8. Keeps patient information confidential and respects patients' rights to privacy, in accordance with accepted confidentiality practices for incarcerated individuals.
  9. Provides input into facility mandatory committees, when requested, such as Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Infection Control, Quality Improvement, and Medical Audit Committee as requested by Director of Nursing and Health Services Administrator.
  10. Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.
  11. Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
  12. Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
  13. Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
  14. Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
  15. Post orders, if applicable, per site contract.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.
