How you make a difference

The Nurse Practitioner provides a full range of medical services for patients. They provide required documentation of services in order to monitor provision of clinical services. They notify supervisors regarding changes in schedule coverage. Assist in arrangements for coverage of medical services if unavailable for an extended period of time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to aseptic techniques, infection control guidelines, and safety procedures.
  • Efficiently manage emergency patient situations, anticipate issues, and report to superiors as needed.
  • Demonstrate awareness of legal aspects in patient care, support the Family Advocacy Program, and respect patient and family rights.
  • Prioritize continuous education, attend mandatory training, participate in performance improvement initiatives, provide in-service training, attend meetings, and maintain accurate, timely patient care documentation while delegating tasks appropriately.
  • Engage in peer review and performance improvement activities to enhance patient care quality.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing; Graduate from an academic program, within the nursing specialty field of study that is accredited by a regional or national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Experience

  • As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific credentialing instructions.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse.
  • Certified in the specialty required by the TO as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the recognized national nursing certification organization for the specialty area of practice as appropriate (for example, National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses, American Nurses Association, National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Specialties).
