About this role

The RTC Psychiatrist, under the direction of the Health Services Administrator (HSA), Program Manager (PM), or higher licensed health professional, is responsible for assessing and prescribing medication for mentally ill and Incompetent to Stand Trial (IST) patients in the RTC program. This includes maintaining compliance with the company's Policy & Procedure (P&P) Manual and relevant state regulations. The RTC Psychiatrist works as a licensed Psychiatrist in the State of employment to ensure appropriate psychiatric care for patients in the RTC program.

What you bring to the table

Education

  • Education associated with licensure as a Psychiatrist in the state of employment.

Experience

  • One + year experience as a licensed Psychiatrist
  • Previous experience with restoration of competency patients preferred

Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensure as a Psychiatrist in state of employment
  • Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS certification through AHA

Compliance

  • Must obtain and maintain security clearance throughout the course of employment.
  • Must pass background investigation conducted by the Company and/or Facility as a requisite for initial and or continued employment.
  • May be required to undergo reasonable suspicion testing for being under the influence of controlled substances, including prescription, legal, and illegal substances, including marijuana.
  • Must undergo security training and orientation on Facility Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Must follow county facility policies and procedures.

What you will do

• Adhere strictly to court and company Policy & Procedure (P&P) Manual in all duties as a RTC Psychiatrist.
• Conduct weekly individual (1:1) meetings with RTC patients to assess medication adherence and treatment changes, with same-day documentation in patient health records.
• Participate in Treatment Team meetings, provide clinical support as needed, and assist in coordination of involuntary medication processes, including court testimony if applicable.
• Foster supportive relationships with Sheriff's Deputies/Officers and work cooperatively with the Sheriff's Office team.
• Document findings in patient's health record, provide written summaries as required, and may assist in job shadowing, orientation, and training of new employees.
