About this role

Our Program Director provides leadership to the multidisciplinary team. This position works cooperatively with corporate and local management to develop and attain the goals and objectives of the program according to the policy direction of the company and within the scope defined by the client agency. The Program Administrator has budgetary responsibility for all program expenses.

What you bring to the table

Education:

  • Masters or Ph.D./Psy.D. in Psychology, Social Work, or HealthCare Administration

Experience:

  • Three to five (3-5) years of experience working with forensic psychiatric patients
  • Two (2) years of administrative experience in a secure forensic program
  • Correctional or treatment facility-based setting is preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current Psychologist license in the state where work is performed is highly desired

What you will do

  1. Plans, and provides leadership, for the administrative and treatment programs. Makes long-range plans and schedules. Sets goals and establishes objectives to achieve such plans.
  2. Develops and maintains close working relationships with the client departments and their representatives.
  3. Approves, initiates, interprets, revises and enforces policies and directives for efficient administration. Supplements policies with written guidelines and procedures.
  4. Directs the activities of all program functions, assigns duties and delegates authority to accomplish them.  Delegates authority for the selection, advancement and termination of staff, including ongoing staff training, communications, development and staff disciplinary hearings.
  5. Directs the work of other employees, including selection, hiring, evaluating job performance, employee training/development, promoting and any disciplinary action, including termination.
  6. Ensures that adequate procedures, methods, and techniques are established in all programs, disciplines, and operations so that functions are executed with maximum efficiency and cost effectiveness. Monitors compliance with established program methods and systems and seeks improvements in all departmental areas including but not limited to security, business services, food service, medical service, programs, and maintenance.
  7. Provides adequate facilities, space and equipment for residents and staff.
  8. Ensures the ability of the program staff to respond appropriately to emergencies.
  9. Provides proper safeguards and conducts regular scheduled physical inspections for health, safety, and welfare of patients/residents, staff and property of the program and the facility.
  10. Clears policy matters with the appropriate corporate and/or client officials, whenever necessary, and advises program management and staff of pertinent matters.
  11. Remains aware of statutory requirements, and legal decisions, that affect administrative decisions and/or operations of the program.
  12. Analyzes proposals, financial statements, records, statistical reports, budget estimates and justifications for proposed expenditures.
  13. Develops and maintains close working relationships with government and private agencies including local, state and federal law enforcement units, and the community.
  14. Responds on a 24-hour, 7-day basis to significant unusual occurrences.
  15. Continues professional development through in-service education, workshops, conferences and self-study necessary to maintain current knowledge applicable to the position.
  16. Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
  17. Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
  18. Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
  19. Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned.
