About this role

The Assistant Director of Nursing ensures compliance with department protocols, policies, guidelines, and facility standards, and assists with the coordination of daily operations, activities, and personnel of the department. The Assistant Director of Nursing will be under direct supervision of the Director of Nursing and has direct supervisory accountabilities for all assigned positions including, but not limited to, Nurse Leads, Registered Nurses, Licensed Nursing and Unlicensed Nursing employees.

What you bring to the table

Education

  • Registered nurse degree from an accredited school of nursing; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred)

Experience:

  • A minimum of (5) five years of experience as a Registered Nurse that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform satisfactorily the duties of the position may be considered.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must possess a current, unrestricted California license as a Registered Nurse.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of increasingly responsible nursing administration experience including some lead or supervisory experience. (preferred).

What you will do

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in the development and implementation of Standards of Care, philosophy, and objectives of the Department of Nursing.
  • Ensures through the Nursing Lead(s) that daily nursing and patient care needs are met according to staffing standards, nursing philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Provides staff training, assigning, and reviewing work, and evaluating performance in conjunction with a higher-level supervisor/manager. Provides in-service training to onboard, orient and evaluate new staff members.
  • Consults with the Director of Nursing and assists in formulating solutions to matters affecting nursing program development.
  • Evaluates the implementation of the Plan of Care developed by multi-disciplinary teams for each client by assigning nursing staff adequate to meet the needs of the clients.
  • Directs the coordination of daily operations, activities, and personnel in the department.
