About this role

Accomplishing the day to day environmental services work to include general cleaning and laundry work of the facility.
The Environmental Services Work position is expected to promote safe, clean and well structured environment for clients and employees. The Environmental Services Work may be required to perform tasks which involve exposure to dangerous equipment and must follow the required procedures for handling, cleaning, or moving of objects/materials and /or cleanup of materials. This position also requires physical capabilities to perform job duties,
Flexibility in schedule and ability to work in a variety of conditions and multiple environments.
The Environmental Services Work ensures compliance with department protocols, policies, guidelines, and facility standards, and performs the day to day operations, activities, within the department.

What you bring to the table

Education:

  • Less than high school education; or up to one month related training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Graduation from High School or GED(preferred).

Experience:

  • Three(3)months’ to one (1) year of general experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform satisfactorily the duties of the position maybe considered;

 

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license as the position may require driving company vehicles. (Required)
  • Two(2)years of increasingly responsible facility Environmental Services experience to include lead or supervisory responsibilities.(Preferred)
  • Bilingual (Preferred)

What you will do

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition through washing, cleaning and replacement of equipment and furnishings.
  • Clean common areas, patios, restrooms, client rooms and offices with special attention paid to quality.
  • Clean and keep in order all Environmental Services equipment and supply rooms.
  • Check entire areas for spills, water, etc. periodically, especially in clients’ bathrooms and kitchen area.
  • Picks up and removes hazardous articles which may be on floors, furniture, and equipment and places them in designated receptacles or in appropriate places
  • Maintains security of building as appropriate, locks doors and turns off lights; keeps utility storage area and environmental services equipment clean and in good order; makes reports on areas in need of repair and of safety hazards.
  • Responsible for following standards of the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and appropriate use of cleaning agents (including training and ensuring Environmental Services staff are compliant as well).
  • Follows the required procedures for handling, cleaning, disposing, or moving of objects/materials and /or cleanup of materials client and staff safety at forefront.
  • Follows the required procedures for ensuring the integrity of supplies and equipment as well as accessibility and safety of supplies during use when clients present.
  • Stock housekeeping cart at the end of the day, keeping the cart in a clean orderly fashion with chemicals not in use locked inside the cart.
  • Cleans and disinfects clients rooms, restroom, beds and other furniture. Sweeps, vacuums, and mops floors and stairways.
  • Collects waste from assigned areas of the facility including medical biohazardous materials, pathology materials and “sharps” in accordance with facility infection control policies.
  • Washes, dusts and polishes furniture, woodwork and shelves; empties and cleans waste receptacles; cleans walls, fountains and windows; dusts all intake and exhaust vents, light fixtures and other furnishings.
