About this role

The Psychologist for NeuroBehavioral Hospital (NBH) Provides psychological assessments as dictated by the treatment plan and within a timeframe established by hospital policy. Provides psychotherapy services for residents to include individual, family and group therapy, scheduling and facilitation of treatment team reviews and documentation.

What you bring to the table

Education

  • Doctorate in psychology
  • Experience with mental health delivery systems

Experience

  • Minimum of one (1) year recent experience in a residential or hospital setting with appropriate population preferred.
  • Professional experience in the mental field that indicates knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders and psychological evaluation techniques, including psychological assessment instruments.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in the State of employment by the appropriate state licensing agency

What you will do

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible to provide clinical and consultation services in accordance with policies and procedures of the hospital and the standards of the American Psychological Association (APA).
  • Responsible to provide clinical services such as diagnosis and treatment of mental illness, psychological testing/assessment, psychological evaluations, Neuropsych testing, crisis management services and other clinical services typically considered within the scope of practice of doctoral level psychologists
  • Assist with: Baker Act Assessments, Baker Act Lifts, and Testifying in Baker Act Petition Court Hearings.
  • Provide direct clinical services duties as outlined in the position description of Psychologist as needed to meet institutional mental health service requirements. These duties may include diagnosis and treatment of mental illness, psychological assessment/testing, psychological evaluations, training to staff in areas relevant to Psychologist’s clinical duties, and crisis intervention
  • Ensure that services provided are in accordance with relevant ethical and professional standards of care
  • Attends all treatment teams for assigned residents.
  • Attends weekly/monthly clinical supervision as assigned.
  • Provides weekly clinical supervision as assigned.
  • Approximately, 80% to 100% of psychological evaluations are completed for the facility (dependent on clinical caseload).
  • Coordinates multifamily/group/family education group.
  • Participates in any quality improvement activities that involve psychology services
  • Completes all program notes before the end of the business day.
  • Completes psycho-social assessment within 72 hours of admission.
  • Completes monthly treatment team reports are due 48 hours before treatment team.
  • Maintains data regarding services rendered relevant to departmental statistical needs
  • In consultation with Hospital Clinical Director and administrative supervisors, develop and implement goals and objectives for clinical services provided.
  • Responds to crisis situations and manages patient behaviors in accordance with Hospital policy and procedure.
  • Assists with the unit milieu to guide the development of acceptable habits and attitudes by consistently and fairly implementing the behavioral program, emphasizing good choices, and positive interactions.
  • May assist in the development and refinement of facility policies and procedures to ensure that these not only meet recognized standards.
  • Consistently follows the program schedule and implements all safety and security procedures.
  • May assist in departmental staff selection and recruitment 
  • May assist in administrative and managerial responsibilities and duties; such would be under the direction of the
  • Hospital Chief Executive Medical Director
  • Flexible hours are expected and may include weekends and nights.
  • Participates in the rotating On call/weekend coverage for clinical services.
