About this role

The Psychologist conducts psychological testing and evaluations. The Psychologist also provides individual and group therapy as appropriate. As an active member of the treatment team, the psychologist provides staff education as needed and serves as a consultant to the treatment team. He or she is responsible for developing, monitoring, and implementing behavioral management plans.  This position conducts quality assurance monitoring in his/her area of responsibility.

What you bring to the table

Education:

  • Doctoral level degree in clinical psychology from an accredited university. 

Experience:

  • 2-5 years’ experience in clinical psychology desired.
  • Experience working is a secure forensic program, correctional or jail-based setting is preferred. Knowledge of competency to stand trial evaluations and competency restoration highly preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • This position requires a license or immediate ability to become licensed in the state providing services as a Psychologist.

What you will do

  • Conducts psychological evaluations, including assessing for trial competence.
  • Conduct psychological testing as clinically indicated.
  • Serves as a consultant to the multidisciplinary team. Provides training to the teams on competency restoration and other forensic topics.
  • Provides individual and group treatment as appropriate.
  • Oversees the development and modification of specialized behavioral management plans.
  • Ensures compliance with contractual and regulatory standards related to psychology and forensic services. Takes a lead in performance improvement activities and corrective action plans related to forensic assessment and treatment activities.
  • Is sensitive to cultural diversity issues, treats clients as individuals, and considers the culture of the client when providing care and treatment.
  • Is knowledgeable about care and treatment needs of clients of different ages.
  • Provides individualized care and treatment that is consistent with/sensitive to the age and life span developmental needs of each client.
  • Continues professional development through in-service education, workshops, conferences and self-study necessary to maintain current knowledge applicable to the position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
