About this role

The IT Compliance Specialist plans, designs, implements, and supports security solutions and capabilities that enable the organization to align with various security baselines and compliance requirements such as HIPAA and NIST-171.  This position develops, implements, and enforces security requirements using Governance Risk and Compliance objectives by performing risk assessments, threat modeling, testing, and analysis of existing systems.  This position is responsible for responding to external audits, performing internal risk assessments, and coordinating the remediation of audit findings.

What you bring to the table

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or commensurate experience

Experience: 

  • 3+ years of progressive experience in computing and cybersecurity, including experience with Internet technology and security issues.
  • Experience should include security policy development, security education, network penetration testing, application vulnerability assessments, risk analysis, and compliance testing.
  • Knowledge of standards such as (HIPAA and NIST 800-series), rules and regulations related to cybersecurity, privacy, data protection, and risk management.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must be able to obtain/retain a leading cybersecurity certification such as the CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or other industry accredited certifications.

Compliance:

  • Must have extensive experience in the healthcare industry implementing technical solutions to meet security requirements.

What you will do

  • Perform periodic reviews of application security requirements and communicate/track remediation efforts.
  • Conducts analysis, evaluation, or design of unique and complex tasks through the development of new or improved methods and procedures.
  • Facilitates IT compliance initiatives such as access reviews, third-party audits, and policy/procedure updates.
  • Management and administration of day-to-day cybersecurity processes including risk management, security awareness, metrics, vendor management, application reviews, and other and other security processes as needed.
  • Maintain awareness of cybersecurity industry best practices, standards, and regulations, including participating in online webinars, journals, certifications, and other publications to stay current with the ever-changing security field.
  • Delivers on cybersecurity projects or initiatives that are identified through the evaluation of business and IT strategies. Enables the success of those initiatives through thoughtful project management and escalation practices.
  • Ensures that the stakeholder compliance requirements necessary to protect the organization's mission and business processes are adequately addressed.
  • Management and administration of day-to-day cybersecurity infrastructure that includes a variety of technologies, including internet security, mobile device security, authentication, IPS/IDS, SIEM, vulnerability tools, and other security technologies as needed.
  • Partner with teams to design, implement, and manage security systems to secure corporate assets and sensitive data in a healthcare-driven environment.
  • Documents cybersecurity-related problems and resolutions using ticketing systems.
  • Provides consistent professional support to the organization.
