About this role

Vice President of Mental Health is the lead of mental health for the company and senior member of the clinical team. The Vice President of Mental Health, overseeing all divisional mental health leaders, supports and assists the operational and clinical leadership in developing and refining key initiatives related to the organization’s behavioral health program. Provides clinical consultation, as needed to the Divisional Behavioral Health Directors (DBHDs), particularly related to key Mental Health initiatives. Assists with development and modification of behavioral health policies and procedures, advising and developing programs and processes needed to meet clinical specifications of behavioral health contracts, participating in business development activities at the direction of the COO, and fostering cooperative partnerships with customers across the organization.

What you bring to the table


  • Doctorate or Master’s degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or Professional Counseling from an accredited college or university.


  • Eight+ years of experience in the administration of an enterprise-wide, multi-state, multi-venue, correctional behavioral health program.


  • Licensed by the appropriate professional licensure board to practice as a Psychologist, Social Worker, or Professional Counselor. 
  • Certification by appropriate professional licensure board to provide clinical supervision to license-eligible professionals.
  • Must maintain CPR certification, and any other certifications (such as First Aid) required by contract.

What you will do

  • Oversees all division leaders to provide consistent, scalable clinical programs.
  • Collaborates with Chief of Psychiatry and other clinical leaders to promote quality, effective total cost of care and the patient/provider/client experience.
  • Lead the “Zero Suicide” committee to develop programs and track results to effectively manage high risk patients for suicide attempts and completions.
  • Will develop working relationships with leaders both within and outside the company for cutting edge programs addressing suicide prevention.
  • Will assist HR with mental health programs to address employee health and well-being.
  • Supports and assists operational and clinical leadership in carrying out key initiatives related to the administration of the organization’s behavioral health programs.
  • Participated in the organization's professional credentialing process, and consults upon request of the CCO and DBHD's for key position candidates. Participates in the orientation process for new DBHDs at the request of the CCO. 
  • In coordination with the CCO, establishes divisional goals related to key Behavioral Health initiatives, managing the expectations and outcomes.
  • At the request of the CCO, assists the organization in business development activities such as proposal and staffing plan development.
  • Works with DBHDs to verify that all sites have relevant, accurate, and current policies and procedures for key behavioral health initiatives.  Ensures that changes in contract and accreditation standards or language affecting key initiatives are communicated throughout the organization and reflected appropriately in policies.
  • As they relate to key initiatives and at the direction of the CCO, participates in projects related to CQI program, mortality review, and peer reviews ensuring timely completion of all related tasks.
  • Adheres to departmental communications calendar, ensuring all required monthly reporting related to projects assigned.  Attends all required meetings, related to both home office and site activities
  • Peform other duties as assigned.
